Algaren treated Strawberry, cv. Selva, grown in a hydroponic system had on average 58.4 % more shoot dry weight, 104.7 % more root dry weight, 16.8 % more leaf area, 5.6 % more leaf chlorophyll content, 22.9 % more inflorescences, 33.4 % more primary fruit weight, 10.7% longer fruits, 38.1 % more total yield, 71.9 % more malformed fruits, the fruits had 8.5 % less total soluble solids,  39.5 % more ascorbic acid and were 10.3 % more acid as compared to the untreated control. (doses of 6 and 9 g/L gave most significant results)
