Balox

Type: Other, Company: Innovak Global SA

Effect

Increased salt stress tolerance

BALOX treated tomato, var. DIEZMIL97 F1, grown in a loamy soil and under salt stress conditions had a siginificant higher total root area (no salt:+91%, moderate: +106.7%, strong: +161,3%), no difference in stem length, a significant bigger stem diameter (not under no salt), no difference in number of leaves and leaf area of longest leaf, a significant higher fresh weight, no difference in water content, significant more total chlorophyll, no differences in carotenoids (higher under no salt), no differences in Na+, Cl-, K+ and Ca2+ in roots, significant less Na+, Cl-, and more K+ and Ca2+ in leaves, compared to the untreated control grown under the same conditions. BALOX treated tomato, var. DIEZMIL97 F1, grown in a sandy soil and under salt stress conditions had a siginificant higher total root area (no salt:+440.3%, moderate: +377.7%, strong: +143.3%), no difference in stem length, significant bigger stem diameter (not in strong salt), significant more leaves (not in moderate salt), a significant bigger leaf area of longest leaf, a significant higher fresh weight, no difference in water content, no differences in total chlorophyll and carotenoids, no differences in Na+, Cl-, K+ in roots and K+ and Ca2+ in leaves, significant less Na+, Cl-, K+ and Ca2+ in roots, compared to the untreated control grown under the same conditions.
