Meraviglia d'Inverno, grown in standard, alkalinity or salt stress conditions had on average 27 % more shoot fresh weight, 33.7 % more shoot dry weight, 19.1 % more root dry weight (ns), 7.7 % longer roots, the same root diameter, 5.4 % more total root surface, leaves contained 10.8 % more N, 14 % P (ns), 9.1 % more K (ns), 35.5 % less Na (ns), 6.2 % more Fe (ns) and 10.3 % more chlorophyll compared to the untreated control.
