Greenstim

Type: Plant extract, Company: Lallemand

Effect

Increased drought stress tolerance

Greenstrim treated Sweet Potato, cv. Tainung 57, grown in mild drought stress conditions had on average a 5.1 % taller shoot, 3.1 % more leaves, 2.1 % longer and 7.8 % wider leaves and 8.6 % more chlorophyll compared to the untreated control in the same conditions. In severe drought stress conditions the treated Sweet Potato had on average a 1.5 % taller shoot, 35.7 % more leaves, 10.3 % longer and 19.1 % wider leaves and had 15 % more chlorophyll compared to the untreated control in the same conditions. During recovery the treated potato had on average a 10.2 % taller shoot, 66.8 % more leaves, 6.3 % longer and 0.8 % wider leaves and 5.7 % more chlorophyll compared to the untreated control. At harvest the treated Potatos had on average 9.5 % more shoot fresh and 5.5 % more shoot dry weight, 1.3 % less root fresh and 24.6 % more root dry weight, had 17.3 % more storage roots which were 12.8 % longer and 49.6 % less wide compared to the untreated control. The 50 mM dose had most effect.
