Effect
Increased nitrogen N use efficiency
Increased phosphorous P use efficiency
Increased potassium K use efficiency
Potted red tip photinia/Christmas berry cv. 'Red Robin'plants were grown on either 100% fertilization (0,8 µS/cm) or with 50% nutrient stress (0,4µS/cm). The amount of water recieved via top irrigation was the same for both. In the treated plants with 100% fertilization, the branch length increased (5,9%), the number of branches increased (35,1%), and the fresh and dry weight increased (16,8 and 12,4%) compared to an untreated control. In the treated plants with 50% fertilization, the effects were also positive, but much smaller (+0,4% branch length, +19,0% number of branches, +2,6% fresh weight and +2,6% dry weight) compated to an untreated control.
