Kelpak treated lettuce, cv. 'Lisboa', outdoor grown in a DFT (Deep Flow technique) system with reduced nitrogen occasionally showed significant differences in comparison to untreated control grown in the same conditions: at some assessments/stress situations leaf colour and NBI were significantly higher. But also, at some assessments/stress situations the concentration chlorophyll and the NBI were lower and the concentrations flavonols and anthocyanins were higher (indicating stress). Analysis of the harvested crop showed - depending on the stress situation - a significantly lower concentration copper per kg dry matter.
