Kelpak SL treated carrot, cv. 'Karotan', tested after harvest, showed on average increased nitrate content in roots (+16.7%) and increased nitrite content in roots (+47.6%), when tested after 6 months storage no significant difference in roots nitrate content (+12.1%)  and increased roots nitrite content (+41.4%) compared to untreated control plants. Single application of 3 L/ha at the 4-leaves stage resulted in the lowest increases, Triple application of 3-2-2 L/ha resulted in the highest increases compared to the untreated control.
