KIEM treated cucumber, cv. Vert Petit de Paris, grown under heat-stressed conditions (35°C) showed significantly increased germination (+6.5%), increased fresh weight (+15%), reduced H2O2 after 24 and 48 hours (-80% and -90%), reduced non-protein thiols after 24 hours (-29%), increased non-protein thiols after 48 hours (+32%) and significantly altered gene expression and enzymatic activity of antioxidant, compared to untreated control plants. KIEM treated cucumber, cv. Vert Petit de Paris, grown under non-stressed conditions (28°C) showed no significant difference in germination (-1%), reduced fresh weight (-8%), reduced H2O2 after 24 and 48 hours (-69% and -59%), increased non-protein thiols after 24 hours (+38%) and significantly altered gene expression and enzymatic activity of antioxidant, compared to untreated control plants.
