Effect
Increased cold stress tolerance
Increased heat stress tolerance
Pepton 85/16 treated Lettuce, cv. Arena, grown in a greenhouse and subjected to a heat treatment of 2 h had on average 7 % more fresh weight, 17.4 % more dry weight, a 13.3 % bigger specific leaf area and a 132.3 % higher relative growth rate compared to the untreated control subjected to the same conditions. The highest dose gave the best effect. Pepton 85/16 treated Lettuce, cv. Arena, grown in a greenhouse and subjected to a cold treatment of -3 °C for 4 h had on average 12.3 % more fresh weight, 32.9 % more dry weight, a 8.5 % bigger specific leaf area and a 96.4 % higher relative growth rate compared to the untreated control subjected to the same conditions. The highest dose gave best effect.
