Effect
Seasol treated strawberry, cvs. Albion and Fortuna showed an increase in runner yields of 8 and 19%, respectively, compared to untreated controls. Treated Fortuna plants had an 8% decrease in rejected runners compared to untreated plants, no change was observed for the Albion cultivar. Treatment significantly increased feeder roots scores and the density of feeder roots on harvested runners of the Fortuna cultivar by 22%, but not the Albion cultivar. The biostimulant also increased the crown diameters of harvested runners of the cultivar Albion by 11%, but not other parameters of runner quality. Relationships between the density of feeder roots and runner yield were not significant for either the Fortuna or Albion cultivars. There was no significant difference in soil nutrient content between treatments in the Fortuna and Albion trials.
