Genovese, grown in a soilless system with varying levels of mineral and organic fertiliser, showed no significant difference in stomatal conductance, no difference in plant water use (+0.3%), no difference in water use efficiency (+0.3%), no difference in plant height (-0.8%), no difference in stem diameter (+4.5%), no difference in fresh weight, no difference in dry weight, no difference in yield (+5.8%), no difference in number of leaves (-2.8%), no difference in leaf area per plant, (+4.3%) no difference in leaf area per leaf (+7.2%), no difference in L*, a*, b*, Chroma, Hue or ΔE colour parameters and significantly reduced nitrate conten (-28.5%)t, compared to untreated control plants.
